Position Title Senior Piping Designer
Description Lead the preparation and development of process design deliverables, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant plant designs. Responsible for P&IDs, process schematics, and integration with piping, instrumentation, and mechanical disciplines. Provide technical leadership, mentor junior designers, and support project execution through all stages.

Minimum Qualification Diploma/B.E. in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) from a recognized institution
Professional Skills
  • Strong technical expertise in piping layout and design, equipment layout, pipe routing, and support detailing.
  • Mandatory: Proficiency in MicroStation for 2D/3D design and drafting; ability to prepare and update GAs, isometrics, and plot plans.
  • Working knowledge of international codes/standards: ASME B31.3/B31.1, API, ASTM, ISO, OSHA best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with clash detection and model coordination (e.g., Navisworks or equivalent).
  • Ability to interpret and incorporate redmark/markup drawings and produce asbuilt deliverables.
  • Advantageous (preferred): AutoPLANT/PDMS/E3D, AutoCAD, Caesar II interface awareness, SPI/S3D review tools.
Experience
  • 8–12 years of relevant experience in process design and drafting for EPC/EPCM projects in oil & gas, chemicals, power, or related industries.
  • Minimum 3 years in a senior or lead designer capacity, handling multidisciplinary coordination.
Key Accountabilities
  • Develop and maintain piping layouts, equipment arrangements, and plant 3D model zones.
  • Prepare and review plot plans, piping GAs, isometrics, tie-in details, support drawings, and BOM/MTO.
  • Perform clash detection and coordinate resolutions with process, mechanical, civil/structural, and E&I teams.
  • Interpret P&IDs, line lists, vendor drawings, and client specs; update models/drawings per revisions.
  • Incorporate red marks and site inputs; produce as-built documentation and closeout packages.
  • Lead model reviews, track action items, and maintain QA/QC standards.
  • Support construction and commissioning with field sketches, RFIs/TQs, and constructability guidance.
  • Mentor junior designers, enforce drafting standards, and improve CAD/3D workflows.
  • Strong 3D spatial awareness, attention to detail, and zero-defect mindset.
  • Proactive communicator with excellent interdisciplinary coordination skills.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and meet tight schedules while guiding team members.
  • Problem-solving focus with constructability and safety awareness.
  • Professionalism, integrity, and commitment to documentation discipline and change control.
